Plastic bottles with a precious metal look

Lichtenfels, June 2018 - Metal Avenue is the name of a new bottle collection created by a development team at the plastic packaging manufacturer Rebhan and the master batch producer Lifocolor. The high-quality look is achieved by combining Glass PolymerTM with special metallic effect colours.

By creating the kind of high-quality impression you associate with real glass, the plastic bottles from Rebhan (based in Stockheim) have found themselves used for numerous applications in recent years. The cube-shaped New Square bottles look particularly elegant and modern with their rounded edges and are suitable for things like hand creams and liquid soaps. They first went on sale towards the end of 2017.

Elegant flacons for high-quality cosmetics

The bottle manufacturer has now come up with a new collection in collaboration with its master batch supplier Lifocolor. The cube-shaped bottles, with their special metallic gloss effect, are marketed under the name Metal Avenue and were unveiled by Rebhan and Lifocolor (based in Lichtenfels) at the Cosmetic Business trade fair in Munich at the start of June 2018.

The companies - which are both based in Germany's Upper Franconia region - pooled their skills to come up with this joint development. Developed for Rebhan's New Square bottles made of Glass PolymerTM, Lifocolor's new Metal Look master batch range gives the impression of precious metal - without any need for subsequent surface treatment. The metallic look achieved by the development staff at the partners involved in this collaboration is really convincing - more so than the various metal effects achieved with the effect pigments available so far for use with plastics. Andrea Hanke, Head of Technology at Lifocolor, remembers the time well: "When we showed Rebhan our new Metal Look creations, the development staff there were really bowled over. So we developed our Metal Look range further and worked with Rebhan to create the Metal Avenue collection."

A bottle collection in five colours

The Metal Avenue bottle was showcased at the Cosmetic Business trade fair and looks like an object made of real metal thanks to its exquisite shape combined with the special gloss effect. The range comprises five colour creations: the blue Times Square, the turquoise Broadway, the silver chrome Fifth Avenue, the rosé gold Sunset Boulevard, and the warm, pale gold known as Champs-Élysées. A dispenser system with a matt silver collar finished the prototypes off beautifully, and these were filled, for the trade fair, with a soothing shower gel by L.A. Schmitt from Ludwigstadt (to be used as free gift). According to Sabine Müller, from the Marketing and Communication department at Rebhan, the products made a very positive impression: "The Metal Avenue bottles attracted the attention of lots of visitors at the trade fair. The metallic effect looks a bit like lacquer. And thanks to the various elegant colours achieved with the Lifocolor pigments, our clients from the cosmetics sector feel the collection genuinely enhances the existing offer of premium plastic bottles."

Lifocolor marketers are convinced that the extraordinary appeal they create arouses certain emotions and evokes the facades of the streets and boulevards after which they are named. The bottles convey a mood of glamour and luxury, so serve as a marketing tool to increase the perceived quality of cosmetics products and therefore directly promote sales.
